First Church offers many opportunities to participate in groups that build and grow our community. Many of our members and friends come together around a topic of study, a prayer practice, or a process of spiritual formation.

The First Church community gathers on Sunday mornings after worship for fellowship, an opportunity to get some coffee and a bite to eat, catch up with old friends, and meet new ones.
Retreats, day trips, and outings are another element of our community life together and offer a chance to relax our minds and bodies and restore our spirits. Every fall, First Church women participate on an overnight women’s retreat, typically in a natural setting an hour away. The church offers occasional day trips and field trips, e.g,. to a museum or theatrical performance downtown. Family Camp is another retreat of sorts – a chance for First Church families to spend a weekend in early August on Lake Geneva in Wisconsin.
Our Fighting Methodist softball team is another fellowship opportunity—both for the players and the fans. This coed team plays in the Evanston summer recreation league from April to July, usually weekly.
