Worshipping with Children
All persons are welcome in worship. As our faith community attracts younger members, more infants and young children are worshipping with us, and we love hearing the sounds of laughing, clapping, fussing and crying; those are the sounds of a vibrant and growing church.
Each Sunday during the school year kids can find crayons and an activity page at each of the sanctuary entrances, and during our Time with Young Disciples, they are invited to the chancel steps for a brief, interactive message about the gospel text. After that kids ages three though 4th grade are welcome to head upstairs for Children’s Chapel or to return to the pews with their families.
Our children also help lead worship. Children as young as kindergarteners participate in our Children’s Choir, and as kids grow older, they can serve as acolytes, communion servers, scripture readers, and crossbearers.
Children’s Chapel is a worship exploration program for children ages three through 4th grade. Led by church staff, children participate song, prayer, and worship rituals in an age-appropriate manner. During our outdoor Worship in the Park service, children of all ages are invited to an extended Time with Young Disciples in another part of the park during the latter half of the worship service.
Our nursery for children under three is open on Sunday mornings during school year beginning at 9: 00 a.m. Parents may sign in their babies and toddlers for the morning, or they can visit the nursery for a play break, diaper change, or feeding. Some parents prefer to keep children with them in worship.
