Children’s Learning

Children’s Ministry at First Church offers multiple opportunities for children to learn about God, the Bible, and what it means to be a disciple of Jesus. Age-appropriate materials are mixed with fun to engage kids in the learning process.

Sunday School

During Sunday School at 9:15 a.m. volunteer teachers guide children in exploring the Bible and our relationships with God through interactive stories, music, videos, prayer, arts, games, play, and community building.  Children ages three (by Sept. 1) through sixth grade are divided into Sunday School classes as follows:

  • Pre-K and Kindergarten – Room 26
  • 1st, 2nd and 3rd grades – Room 32
  • 4th, 5th and 6th grades – Room 34

Children’s Chapel

After the Time with Children in worship, children ages three through 4th grade are invited to Children’s Chapel up on the third floor.  Children’s Chapel provides an opportunity for children to explore elements of worship in an-age appropriate manner. Led by church staff, the kids participate in song, prayer, and worship rituals and traditions.

Nursery and First Steps to Faith

First Steps to Faith is a monthly program for children under three with their parents. Led by Children’s Ministry Coordinator Cherie Asante, babies and toddlers engage with their parents in songs, finger plays, and interactive stories that introduce basic Christian ideas.  First Steps meets at 9:30-10:15 a.m., typically on the second Sunday of the month.

Every Sunday morning parents can sign in their babies and toddlers to the nursery for free play and supervised activities during Sunday School and worship.

Vacation Bible School and Summer Camps

Vacation Bible School and Summer Camps are other learning opportunities for children.
