Youth and Children in Mission

Our youth program promotes a strong sense of putting our faith into action. Youth participate in service projects during the school year and two summer mission trips.   Younger children also participate in hands-on service at camp and at other times.

Appalachia Service Project Mission Trip

Each summer 50-70 high school youth and adults from our congregation participate in the annual ASP mission trip, a week of home renovation and repair with the Appalachia Service Project. While physically exhausting, the week is highly meaningful in putting our faith into action, and several our of youth have called it “the best week of the year.”

Rockford Mission Trip

Our seventh and eighth graders spend four days each summer on the Rockford Mission Trip working with nonprofit organizations to help improve impoverished neighborhoods in this Illinois city.

Children in Action Camp

Our Children in Action Camp for kids entering third through sixth grade focuses on service in the local community. Each day campers engage in a service project such and reflect on their experience. Past projects have included serving at a soup kitchen, making sack lunches for homeless persons, visiting seniors at a retirement community, and cleaning up the beach.
